ok. so maybe it’s a bit much to refer to myself as a landlubber. i’m as salty as the next guy (or gal). saltier than most but I have been feeling a bit landlocked since leaving Oblivion and her crew.

brandi and i have been home for 12 days (less time than we spent on the boat) and i find myself missing almost everything: the deliberate pace of life, the cold mexican beer, having your entire world contained in a 38′ sailboat, the feeling that the only limitations on you are made by the weather conditions, the laughs, brand new experiences, being tested (in the best way) both mentally and physically each day and most of all i miss my friends.

it was a tearful departure that morning in cabo 12 long days ago. not all were tears of sadness (more than a fair share for certain) but tears of happiness for the good fortune to have jeff and nancy in my life. i’ve tried to write why i’m fortunate but every word combination that ticks itself out across my screen just falls flat. suffice it to say that it’s a rarity in life to spend time with truly exceptional people, let alone share life-changing experiences with them. jeff and nanc are exceptional.

i’m jealous of them too. they’ve had the courage to do what most (hell all) of us only dream of doing. not the sailing part, the follow your gut and put yourself out there part. that’s pretty cool.

don’t get me wrong. i’m not complaining about my life. i am lucky. luckier than i care to admit really. i have a great life full of love, laughs, family, friends and really good wine. what i guess i’m trying to say is that it’s important to remind ourselves that we need to keep that fire that burns inside of us stoked. you know the one. the one that fuels those daydreams. go ahead, get that puppy raging. having friends like nanc and jeff makes it easier.
